De Oriënt nears completion
The keys of the first homes in De Oriënt complex in The Hague’s Transvaal neighbourhood have been handed over to the new inhabitants. The project will be completely finished at the end of this year. The project’s commissioner, Era Contour, wants to provide The Hague’s Hindustani-Surinamese community with suitably tailored housing and workspace. The design is an excellent example of what Wilfried van Winden terms ‘Fusion’ architecture.

    Villa Kooimans in Rhoon
WAM architecten is designing a modern and stylish villa in a 1960s neighbourhood in Rhoon, close by Rotterdam. The starting point for this new villa was an existing bungalow from that period. The new design provides for an appreciable expansion and modernisation of the home. On the ground floor the villa opens out towards the garden, the water and the park. From the living room the inhabitants look out across the new swimming pool and the peaceful, green surroundings.

Definitive Design for Townhouses, Spinozastraat in The Hague
The design of eight new townhouses on the Spinozastraat in The Hague is in harmony with the existing, classic street elevation.
The houses are, however, a novel reinterpretation of the 19th-century townhouses so typical of The Hague. The windowless side
elevations feature decorative patterns in the masonry.

WAM architecten selected for the ‘Buiten in Buiten’ residential project in Almere
A new residential complex comprised of 175 dwellings grouped around two inner courtyards and a plaza is set to spring up, not far from the centre of Almere and within a stone’s throw of the Oostvaardersplassen nature reserve.
The basic principle for this project was living around large, communal courtyard gardens. The prospective residents are also actively involved in its design and layout.
